Ingredients
- 2 New York strip steaks (6–8 ounces each, about 1 to 1¼ inches thick)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
- Remove the steaks from the refrigerator and allow them to rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- Pat the steaks dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- Brush both sides of the steaks lightly with olive oil.
- Season both sides with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3 minutes if your air fryer requires preheating.
- Place the steaks in the air fryer basket in a single layer, leaving space between them for air circulation.
- Cook at 400°F for 10 to 12 minutes, flipping the steaks halfway through cooking.
- Check the internal temperature with an instant-read thermometer and remove when the desired doneness is reached.
- Transfer the steaks to a plate and allow them to rest for 5 to 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Patting the steaks dry helps create a better browned crust.
- Use an instant-read thermometer for the most accurate doneness.
- Letting the steak rest after cooking allows the juices to redistribute.
- Additional seasonings such as garlic powder, onion powder, or steak seasoning can be added.
- Top with garlic butter or herbs for extra flavor.
