- 1 to 1.5 pounds ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ¾ cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- ¼ cup sweet pickle relish
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 4 to 6 hamburger buns
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1½ cups shredded lettuce
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart. Drain excess grease.
- Reduce heat to low and stir in ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, relish, vinegar, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer for 5–7 minutes until sauce thickens and coats the meat.
- Spoon mixture onto the bottom halves of buns. Top with shredded cheese and lettuce, then close the sandwiches.
Notes
- Use ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
- Stir cheese directly into the meat for added richness.
- Add pickles or hot sauce for more flavor.
