Cajun Butter Shrimp is a quick, bold, and flavorful dish featuring juicy seared shrimp tossed in a spicy, garlicky Cajun butter sauce. It’s perfect for serving over rice, pasta, or with crusty bread, and comes together in under 30 minutes.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • For the Shrimp:
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails on or off)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Cajun Butter Sauce:
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp honey (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Toss shrimp with olive oil, Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear shrimp for 2–3 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Stir in honey (if using), smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, and lemon juice. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Return shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce.
  6. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot with rice, pasta, or bread.

Notes

  • Add cream or cream cheese for a creamy Cajun butter sauce.
  • Include bell peppers, spinach, or tomatoes for extra veggies.
  • Serve in tacos with avocado and lime crema for a fun twist.
  • Adjust cayenne and seasoning to control the spice level.
