Cheese Tortellini Pizza Casserole is a comforting baked pasta dish that combines tender cheese tortellini with rich tomato pizza sauce, melted mozzarella, savory turkey pepperoni, and garlic. It delivers the classic flavors of pizza in a warm, cheesy casserole perfect for family dinners.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces cheese stuffed tortellini
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 3/4 cup turkey pepperoni slices
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the cheese tortellini according to package instructions until tender. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  4. Add the chopped garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Pour in the whole milk and pizza sauce, stirring to combine. Let it simmer gently for 3 to 4 minutes.
  6. Stir in the Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes if using.
  7. Add the cooked tortellini to the sauce and gently toss until evenly coated.
  8. Transfer the tortellini mixture to the prepared baking dish.
  9. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the top.
  10. Add the grated parmesan cheese and arrange the turkey pepperoni slices over the cheese.
  11. Bake uncovered for 20 to 25 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  12. Remove from the oven and let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  13. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Low-moisture shredded mozzarella melts best for a classic pizza-style topping.
  • Do not overcook the tortellini before baking to prevent a soft texture.
  • You can add vegetables such as mushrooms, bell peppers, or spinach for extra flavor.
  • For extra creaminess, mix a little mozzarella into the tortellini before baking.
  • If the casserole thickens too much during reheating, add a splash of milk.
