Crispy, golden egg rolls filled with juicy ground beef, cheese, and pickles — a fun twist on cheeseburgers that’s perfect as an appetizer, snack, or quick dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (or 1/2 tsp garlic powder)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup diced pickles (optional)
  • 1215 egg-roll wrappers
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp mustard or mustard powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook diced onion and garlic until softened.
  2. Add ground beef, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire (if using). Cook until fully browned. Drain excess grease.
  3. Transfer beef mixture to a bowl and mix in cheddar cheese and pickles. Let cool slightly.
  4. Place 2–3 tablespoons of filling on a wrapper, fold and roll tightly, sealing the edge with water.
  5. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry egg rolls in batches, 2–3 minutes per side, until golden and crispy.
  6. Drain on paper towels. Serve warm with dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Use jalapeños or bell peppers for extra flavor or heat.
  • Swap cheddar for pepper jack or mozzarella.
  • Air-fry at 190°C for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Bake at 200°C for 12–15 minutes, brushing with oil for crispness.
