A hearty comfort food casserole combining classic cheeseburger flavors with crispy French fries, seasoned ground beef, and melted cheese baked together for an easy family-friendly dinner.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4–6 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 cup (240 ml) ketchup
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup (120 g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup (120 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 bag (20 oz / 560 g) frozen French fries
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat and cook the diced onion for 3–4 minutes until softened.
  3. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add the ground beef and cook while breaking it apart until browned, about 6–8 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
  5. Season the beef with salt, black pepper, and paprika, stirring well to combine.
  6. Add ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir and simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  7. Transfer the beef mixture to a baking dish and spread it evenly.
  8. Sprinkle the cheddar and mozzarella cheese over the beef layer.
  9. Arrange the frozen French fries on top in a single layer.
  10. Bake for 25–30 minutes until fries are golden and crispy and cheese is melted.
  11. Remove from the oven, rest for 5 minutes, garnish with parsley if desired, and serve.

Notes

  • Arrange fries in a single layer for maximum crispiness.
  • Add chopped pickles to the beef mixture for a tangy burger flavor.
  • Ground turkey or chicken can be used instead of beef.
  • Colby Jack or Monterey Jack cheese can replace cheddar.
  • Leftovers store well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
