Ingredients
1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup (100 g) sugar
2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour and stir until a soft dough forms.
- Shape dough into small balls or logs and place on the baking sheet. Flatten gently with a fork or cookie press.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, until edges are lightly golden.
- Cool on the pan for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Chill the dough if it’s too soft or spreading too much.
- Dip cookies in melted chocolate for a festive touch.
- Add almond or lemon extract for a flavor variation.
- Mini chocolate chips or chopped nuts make great mix-ins.
