Instructions
- Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease an 8×8-inch baking pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
- In another bowl, cream butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in applesauce, buttermilk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
