- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- For the Glaze:
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons milk or cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
- Peel and dice the apples, then toss them with a bit of the cinnamon-sugar mix.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, combine flour and baking powder.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk.
- Pour half of the batter into the loaf pan. Add half the apple mixture and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar. Repeat layers.
- Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar and milk until smooth, then drizzle over cooled bread.
