  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 (10 oz) can corn, drained
  • 1 (10 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • 1½ cups shredded Colby Jack cheese (or cheddar)
  • 30 oz frozen tater tots or crispy crowns

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In an oven-safe skillet, brown the ground beef and chopped onion over medium-high heat. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, onion powder, and dried parsley.
  3. Drain any excess fat from the cooked meat.
  4. Add minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, drained corn, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and 1 cup of shredded cheese. Stir until well combined.
  5. Spread the mixture into an even layer in the skillet.
  6. Sprinkle a bit more cheese on top, then arrange frozen tater tots in a single layer over the filling.
  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden and crispy and the filling is bubbling.
  8. Let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use ground turkey or chicken for a leaner version.
  • Add bell peppers, black beans, or jalapeños for extra flavor and texture.
  • Swap cream of mushroom soup with cream of chicken or celery for a different flavor.
  • Try cornbread batter instead of tater tots for a Southern twist.
  • Double the recipe for a larger crowd using a bigger dish and adjusting baking time.
