Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef or ground turkey
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 (10 oz) can corn, drained
- 1 (10 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
- ¼ cup sour cream
- 1½ cups shredded Colby Jack cheese (or cheddar)
- 30 oz frozen tater tots or crispy crowns
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In an oven-safe skillet, brown the ground beef and chopped onion over medium-high heat. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, onion powder, and dried parsley.
- Drain any excess fat from the cooked meat.
- Add minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, drained corn, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and 1 cup of shredded cheese. Stir until well combined.
- Spread the mixture into an even layer in the skillet.
- Sprinkle a bit more cheese on top, then arrange frozen tater tots in a single layer over the filling.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden and crispy and the filling is bubbling.
- Let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- Use ground turkey or chicken for a leaner version.
- Add bell peppers, black beans, or jalapeños for extra flavor and texture.
- Swap cream of mushroom soup with cream of chicken or celery for a different flavor.
- Try cornbread batter instead of tater tots for a Southern twist.
- Double the recipe for a larger crowd using a bigger dish and adjusting baking time.
