Ingredients
- 2 pounds cube steak
- 1 packet onion soup mix
- 1 packet brown gravy mix
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 can low sodium cream of mushroom soup
- 1 can low sodium cream of celery soup
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- Slice the onion and set aside.
- Place cube steaks in the bottom of a large crockpot, spreading them out evenly.
- Sprinkle onion soup mix and brown gravy mix over the cube steaks.
- Layer the sliced onion on top of the steaks.
- Add cream of mushroom soup, cream of celery soup, and water. Gently stir to combine, keeping the steaks mostly at the bottom.
- Cover and cook on low heat for about 6 hours, until the cube steaks are fork tender and coated in gravy.
- Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, egg noodles, or vegetables.
Notes
- Use low sodium soups and seasoning packets to control the salt level.
- Replace cream of celery soup with another can of cream of mushroom soup if needed.
- Add extra water or broth if the gravy becomes too thick.
- For extra flavor, sauté onions before adding them to the crockpot.
