Crunchy mini pretzels coated in a sweet cinnamon sugar glaze, baked or air-fried until crisp and aromatic for a quick and irresistible sweet snack.

  • Total Time: 11 minutes
  • Yield: 16 servings

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup refined coconut oil, melted (or melted butter or neutral vegetable oil)
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 lb mini twisted pretzels or small crunchy pretzels

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) if using the oven method.
  2. Melt the coconut oil in a large microwave-safe bowl until fully liquid.
  3. Add the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon to the melted oil and stir until evenly combined.
  4. Add the pretzels to the bowl and mix well so each pretzel is coated in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  5. Spread the coated pretzels evenly onto a large baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 3–5 minutes, watching closely until the sugar begins to melt and slightly caramelize.
  7. Remove from the oven and allow the pretzels to cool for a few minutes so the coating sets and becomes crisp.
  8. Air Fryer Method: Coat pretzels with the cinnamon sugar mixture as directed.
  9. Place them in a thin layer in the air fryer basket without overcrowding.
  10. Air fry at 350°F (175°C) for 2–4 minutes while watching carefully to prevent burning.
  11. Remove and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Thin crunchy pretzels like mini twists work best for holding the cinnamon sugar coating.
  • Watch closely while baking or air frying since sugar caramelizes quickly.
  • Add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract to the oil mixture for a vanilla cinnamon variation.
  • Drizzle melted chocolate over cooled pretzels for a dessert-style snack.
  • Mix roasted almonds, pecans, or cashews with the pretzels for extra crunch.
  • Use gluten-free pretzels if needed without changing the recipe.
  • If pretzels soften from humidity, reheat at 300°F for 2–3 minutes to restore crispness.
