Ingredients
- 1 package sugar wafer cookies (about 30 cookies)
- 1 cup yellow candy melts
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- 60 candy eyeballs
- 60 round orange sprinkles
- 60 orange flower-shaped sprinkles
- 60 yellow leaf-shaped sprinkles
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place a wire rack on top.
- Add the yellow candy melts and coconut oil to a microwave-safe bowl.
- Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring each time, until fully melted and smooth.
- Transfer the melted candy mixture into a piping bag or resealable plastic bag with a corner cut off.
- Arrange the wafer cookies flat on the wire rack.
- Pipe or drizzle the melted candy back and forth over the top two-thirds of each cookie.
- Allow the excess candy coating to drip onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Immediately place two candy eyeballs near the top of each cookie.
- Add two orange flower-shaped sprinkles near the bottom of the candy coating to form the feet.
- Place two yellow leaf-shaped sprinkles above the eyes to create the chick’s hair.
- Add two round orange sprinkles below the eyes to form the beak.
- Let the cookies sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes until the candy coating sets.
- Serve immediately or store in an airtight container.
Notes
- Decorate the cookies immediately before the candy coating hardens.
- Using a wire rack helps excess candy drip off for a cleaner finish.
- Different wafer flavors like chocolate or strawberry work well.
- Candy melts do not require tempering and melt easily.
- Store cookies in a dry airtight container to keep wafers crisp.
