  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 to 6 slices bread (white or whole wheat)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for toasting bread)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add diced onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart. Drain excess fat if needed.
  4. Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, tomato paste, brown sugar, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  5. Simmer on low heat for 8–10 minutes until thickened.
  6. Butter bread slices and toast until golden and crispy.
  7. Spoon sloppy joe mixture over each toast.
  8. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  9. Broil or bake for 2–3 minutes until cheese is melted.
  10. Serve immediately while hot.
