Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef (80% lean)
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)
- Optional for serving: Marinara sauce
- Optional for serving: Cooked spaghetti or other pasta
- Optional for serving: Extra grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and lightly coat with non-stick spray.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and parsley (if using). Mix gently until just combined.
- Form the mixture into 1½-inch meatballs and place them evenly spaced on the baking sheet.
- Bake uncovered for 17–20 minutes, turning halfway through for even browning.
- If serving with sauce, transfer meatballs to a pan with marinara sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Serve warm with pasta and extra Parmesan if desired.
Notes
- Don’t overmix the meat mixture to keep meatballs tender.
- Use onion powder and garlic powder if fresh isn’t available.
- Italian seasoning or red pepper flakes can add extra flavor.
- Substitute crushed crackers or homemade breadcrumbs if needed.
- Freeze fully cooked meatballs for up to 3 months.
