Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Optional: 1/4 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
  2. In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter.
  3. Add sugar, corn syrup, and sweetened condensed milk, stirring until smooth and combined.
  4. Microwave on high for 6 minutes, stirring halfway through.
  5. Test the caramel by dipping a spoon into cold water—when it forms a soft ball, it’s ready.
  6. Stir in vanilla extract and a pinch of sea salt.
  7. Pour the caramel into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  8. Refrigerate for about 20 minutes or until firm.
  9. Cut into 36 pieces and wrap each in wax paper.
