Ingredients
- 2 lb ribs, sliced into individual pieces
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons dark soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 8 whole garlic cloves
- 2 to 3 stalks green onion, cut into large sections
- 1 teaspoon Sichuan peppercorns
- 2 to 2½ cups water, enough to mostly cover the ribs
Instructions
- Place sliced ribs into a pot of cold water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and cook for 3–5 minutes to release impurities.
- Drain and rinse ribs thoroughly under cold water.
- Transfer ribs to a clean pot. Add soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, honey, garlic, green onions, and Sichuan peppercorns.
- Pour in enough water to mostly cover the ribs. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
- Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and braise for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
- Once ribs are tender, serve with spoonfuls of the reduced sauce over top.
Notes
- Add a splash of Chinese cooking wine for deeper flavor.
- Drizzle sesame oil before serving for richness.
- For a thicker glaze, let sauce reduce uncovered near the end or add a cornstarch slurry.
- Best enjoyed with steamed rice or stir-fried greens.
- Refrigerate leftovers up to 3 days and reheat gently on stovetop.
