Ingredients
- Doritos chips (any flavor)
- Mozzarella cheese (cut into cubes or sticks)
- All-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- Panko or regular bread crumbs
- Oil for frying (canola or vegetable oil)
Instructions
- Crush the Doritos in a food processor or in a sealed bag using a rolling pin until finely ground.
- Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: flour in one, beaten eggs in another, and crushed Doritos mixed with panko in the third.
- Pat mozzarella pieces dry with paper towels.
- Dredge each mozzarella piece in flour, dip into egg, then coat in the Doritos crumb mixture. Repeat egg and crumb step for a double coating.
- Heat about 2 inches of oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the coated cheese in batches for 1–2 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Drain on paper towels and serve hot with dipping sauces like marinara, ranch, or spicy mayo.
Notes
- Dry cheese well to help coating stick and prevent splattering.
- Double coating helps prevent cheese leakage and adds crunch.
- Try with different cheeses like cheddar or pepper jack.
- Can be baked at 425°F for 10–12 minutes for a lighter version.
- Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze uncooked breaded cheese for up to 1 month.
