Ingredients
- 2 cups Doritos (Nacho Cheese or preferred flavor), crushed into fine crumbs
- 8 oz mozzarella cheese (block or string cheese), cut into sticks or cubes
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1–2 large eggs, beaten
- Oil for deep frying
Instructions
- Cut mozzarella into sticks or small cubes.
- Crush Doritos into fine crumbs using a food processor or sealed bag and rolling pin.
- Coat each piece of cheese in flour, covering all sides.
- Dip in beaten egg, then coat in Doritos crumbs. For extra crispiness, repeat egg and Doritos coating.
- Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) in a deep pan.
- Fry cheese pieces in batches for 1–2 minutes until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels and serve hot with dipping sauces like marinara, ranch, or spicy mayo.
Notes
- Freeze cheese pieces for 20 minutes before coating to reduce melting during frying.
- Try other cheeses like cheddar or pepper jack for variety.
- Use different Doritos flavors for unique twists (e.g., Cool Ranch, Spicy Sweet Chili).
- Air fry or bake if avoiding deep frying, though texture may differ.
- Best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored and reheated in the oven or air fryer.
