Soft and fluffy garlic bread sticks brushed with buttery garlic and herbs, perfect for dipping or serving with meals. A warm, comforting, and easy homemade bread option.

Ingredients

  • 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup lukewarm milk
  • ¼ cup lukewarm water
  • 1 tsp active dry yeast
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 5½ tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix lukewarm milk, water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour and salt. Mix to form a soft dough.
  3. Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and roll it into a rectangle.
  6. Cut into 1-inch wide strips and place on a lined baking tray.
  7. Melt butter and mix with garlic, oregano, black pepper, and a pinch of salt. Brush generously over the dough strips.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 15–18 minutes, until lightly golden.
  9. Brush with extra garlic butter after baking if desired.

Notes

  • Add grated cheese before baking for cheesy bread sticks.
  • Mix chili flakes or Italian seasoning into the garlic butter for added flavor.
  • Brush with olive oil instead of butter for a lighter version.
  • Store at room temp for 2 days or refrigerate for up to 4 days.
  • Reheat in oven at 160°C (325°F) to maintain texture.
