Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch (23 cm) round cake pan. Line with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

- Mix in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients.
- Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
