Ingredients
- 1 cup crushed Doritos (about 90–100 grams, any flavor)
- 8 mozzarella cheese sticks (about 20–24 grams each, approximately 200 grams total)
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (125 grams)
- 1 cup fine breadcrumbs (120 grams)
- 2 to 3 cups vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Prepare three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with a mixture of breadcrumbs and crushed Doritos.
- Pat mozzarella sticks dry. Roll each stick in flour, dip into beaten eggs, then coat thoroughly in the Doritos-breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
- For extra crispiness, dip again in egg and coat a second time in the Doritos mixture.
- Place coated sticks on a lined tray and freeze for 30 to 45 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 175°C (350°F).
- Fry 2 to 3 sticks at a time for 1 to 2 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Serve immediately while hot and melty inside.
Notes
- Freezing is essential to prevent cheese from leaking.
- Double coating helps create a thicker, crispier crust.
- Do not overcrowd the pan while frying.
- Use a thermometer to maintain proper oil temperature.
- Best served immediately for optimal texture.
