Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef sausage or halal turkey sausage
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 (10-ounce / 283 g) can Rotel diced tomatoes with green chilies, well drained
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 1/4 cups baking mix (such as biscuit baking mix)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a large mixing bowl combine the ground sausage and softened cream cheese.
- Mix thoroughly until well combined.
- Stir in the drained Rotel diced tomatoes with green chilies.
- Add shredded cheddar cheese and baking mix and mix until evenly combined.
- Season with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper.
- Roll the mixture into balls about 1 inch in diameter using your hands or a small scoop.
- Place the sausage balls on the prepared baking sheet leaving space between them.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown and fully cooked.
- Allow them to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Drain the Rotel tomatoes well to prevent excess moisture.
- Use spicy Rotel or add cayenne pepper for extra heat.
- Monterey Jack or mozzarella can replace cheddar cheese.
- The mixture can be prepared a day ahead and refrigerated before baking.
- Serve with ranch dressing, spicy mayo, or cheese sauce for dipping.
