Ingredients

  • 7 grams dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 375 milliliters warm water
  • 500 grams all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix yeast, sugar, and half the warm water. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add the rest of the water, flour, salt, and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface (or use a dough hook) for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled (1 to 1½ hours).
  5. Punch down dough, divide into 10–12 equal pieces, shape into balls, and place on a parchment-lined baking tray.
  6. Cover and let rise again until puffed (30–45 minutes).
  7. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F). Bake rolls for 18–20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.
