These Honey Butter Dinner Rolls are soft, fluffy, and lightly sweet with a golden, buttery glaze. Perfect for any meal, they bring a cozy, homemade touch to the table with minimal effort.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 30 minutes
  • Yield: 18 rolls

Ingredients

  • 4½ cups bread flour, divided
  • 1½ tablespoons instant yeast
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1¼ cups milk, warmed to about 110°F
  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • For the honey butter glaze:
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Instructions

  1. In a stand mixer bowl, combine 3 cups flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Stir to blend.
  2. Add warm milk, softened butter, and egg. Mix on low speed until just combined.
  3. Gradually add remaining flour, mixing until dough is soft and slightly sticky but pulls from the bowl.
  4. Transfer dough to a greased bowl. Cover and let rise at room temperature until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide into 18 equal portions. Shape into smooth balls and place in a greased baking dish.
  6. Cover and let rise again until puffy, about 20–30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake rolls for 15–17 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. While hot, brush generously with honey butter glaze. Let soak in before serving.

Notes

  • Substitute part of the milk with cream for a richer dough.
  • Increase honey for a sweeter glaze or reduce it for savory meals.
  • Refrigerate dough overnight for an easy make-ahead option.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature up to 2 days.
  • Reheat in microwave or oven until soft and warm.
