Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix until fully combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until a soft dough forms.
- Fold in the chocolate chips evenly.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Press a small indentation into the center of each cookie to form a nest shape.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the edges are set but the centers remain soft.
- Allow cookies to cool briefly on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
- Use dark or milk chocolate chips for a different flavor.
- Add shredded coconut or chopped nuts for texture.
- Fill the centers with chocolate spread or candies after baking if desired.
- If cookies spread too much, chill the dough for 15 minutes before baking.
- Re-press the centers gently while cookies are warm to maintain the nest shape.
