Juicy and flavorful turkey burgers infused with jalapeño, pepper jack cheese, and warm spices—perfect for grilling or stovetop cooking and ideal for meal prep or casual gatherings.

  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 6 burgers

Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 jalapeño pepper, finely diced
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 pounds lean ground turkey (about 94% lean)
  • Optional: 6 slices pepper jack cheese for topping
  • For serving: hamburger buns and preferred toppings

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the egg, shredded cheese, onion, garlic, cilantro, jalapeño, Worcestershire sauce, salt, paprika, cumin, and black pepper.
  2. Add the ground turkey and gently mix until just combined.
  3. Divide into 6 equal portions and shape into thick, compact patties.
  4. Place patties on a tray, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat a grill or skillet over high heat. Cook patties 4–5 minutes per side or until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  6. If using, add cheese slices during the last minute of cooking.
  7. Serve warm on buns with desired toppings.

Notes

  • Adjust jalapeño quantity to modify spice level.
  • Swap cilantro for parsley for a different herb flavor.
  • Serve patties bun-less over salads or in wraps for a lighter option.
  • Chilling the patties helps them hold shape while cooking.
  • Freeze raw or cooked patties up to 3 months; thaw in fridge before reheating.
