These Mini Apple Fritter Waffle Donuts are quick, cozy treats filled with warm cinnamon apples and wrapped in biscuit dough. Golden, fluffy, and topped with sugar or glaze, they’re perfect for breakfast, dessert, or snacking.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 8 mini donuts

Ingredients

  • Apple Filling:
  • 1½ cups apples, peeled and finely diced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Donuts:
  • 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (8 biscuits)
  • 2 to 3 cups vegetable oil, for frying
  • Optional Toppings:
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar mixed with ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ cup simple glaze

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add diced apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring often, until apples are soft and syrupy. Set aside to cool slightly.
  2. Flatten each biscuit into a small circle. Place 1 tablespoon of apple filling in the center, fold over, and pinch edges closed. Gently roll into a ball.
  3. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat to about 350°F (175°C). Fry donuts in small batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  4. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  5. Finish with powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar, or glaze as desired. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for best texture.
  • Donuts can be baked at 375°F for 12–15 minutes as a lighter option.
  • Make the apple filling ahead and store refrigerated until use.
  • Cook in a waffle maker for a unique twist.
