Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)
- 1/2 head green cabbage, sliced thin
- 1 medium yellow onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter (or more, if preferred)
- Fresh herbs (like parsley or thyme), chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and melt the butter.
- Add the sliced onions and sauté until soft and golden.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook until browned. Season with salt and pepper.
- Mix in the sliced cabbage and continue cooking for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage softens and caramelizes.
- Sprinkle with chopped fresh herbs and serve hot straight from the pan.
Notes
- Slice cabbage about 1/4 inch thick for even cooking and caramelization.
- Use ground turkey or chicken for a leaner version.
- Add soy sauce or Worcestershire for extra umami.
- Throw in mushrooms or bell peppers for more veggies.
- Reheats well and great for meal prep.
