Ingredients
- 1½ pounds ground beef
- 1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a loaf pan or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the chopped mushrooms and diced onion for about 5 minutes until softened and lightly browned. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, sautéed mushrooms and onion, shredded Swiss cheese, breadcrumbs, eggs, milk, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and dried parsley.
- Mix gently with your hands or a spoon until everything is evenly combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the meatloaf tender.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in the prepared loaf pan or on the lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 50–60 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Remove from the oven and let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.
- Slice and serve warm with your favorite sides.
Notes
- Avoid overmixing the meat mixture to keep the meatloaf tender.
- Let the meatloaf rest before slicing to keep it juicy.
- You can add a glaze of ketchup, mustard, and brown sugar on top for extra flavor.
- Half of the ground beef can be replaced with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
- Fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary can be added for extra aroma.
