A rich and comforting meatloaf made with ground beef, earthy mushrooms, and melted Swiss cheese for a juicy, savory flavor perfect for family dinners.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4–6 servings

Ingredients

  • pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a loaf pan or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the chopped mushrooms and diced onion for about 5 minutes until softened and lightly browned. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, sautéed mushrooms and onion, shredded Swiss cheese, breadcrumbs, eggs, milk, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and dried parsley.
  4. Mix gently with your hands or a spoon until everything is evenly combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the meatloaf tender.
  5. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in the prepared loaf pan or on the lined baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 50–60 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  7. Remove from the oven and let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.
  8. Slice and serve warm with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Avoid overmixing the meat mixture to keep the meatloaf tender.
  • Let the meatloaf rest before slicing to keep it juicy.
  • You can add a glaze of ketchup, mustard, and brown sugar on top for extra flavor.
  • Half of the ground beef can be replaced with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • Fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary can be added for extra aroma.
