Ingredients
- Olive oil spray
- 4 salmon fillets, skin removed, about 5 ounces each
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 6 fresh basil leaves, minced (plus more for garnish)
- 3 tablespoons grated Parmesan or Romano cheese, divided
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F and lightly spray the basket with olive oil.
- Season the salmon fillets with lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
- In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise with minced basil and 2 tablespoons of the Parmesan cheese.
- Spread the mayo mixture over the top of each salmon fillet.
- Sprinkle the remaining Parmesan cheese on top of the coated fillets.
- Air fry the salmon in batches for about 7 minutes, adjusting for thickness, until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily.
- For oven method, preheat the oven to 425°F and spray a sheet pan with olive oil.
- Repeat the seasoning and topping steps, then bake for 10–12 minutes, depending on thickness.
Notes
- You can use different herbs like parsley, dill, or chives instead of basil.
- Adding garlic or lemon zest to the topping enhances the flavor.
- Use Romano cheese for a sharper flavor or combine it with Parmesan.
- Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- Reheat gently in the air fryer or microwave to avoid drying out.
