Ingredients
- 1 large onion, chopped (about 1 cup)
- 1 pound ground beef
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Ground black pepper, to taste
- Garlic powder, to taste (optional)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup Bisquick mix
- 1 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9-inch pie plate.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and chopped onion until beef is browned and onion is soft. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder if using.
- Drain any excess fat and spread the beef mixture evenly into the prepared pie plate.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the beef mixture.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together Bisquick mix, milk, and eggs until smooth. Pour over the beef and cheese in the pie plate.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the pie rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Swap cheddar for Monterey Jack or mozzarella for a different cheese flavor.
- Add chopped pickles or mustard to the beef mixture for a cheeseburger-style twist.
- Use ground turkey instead of beef for a lighter version.
- Make your own Bisquick mix if you don’t have any on hand.
- Add chopped bell peppers or mushrooms for extra veggies and flavor.
