Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, very soft
- 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 4 slices sandwich bread
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning until smooth.
- Spread the butter mixture evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
- Turn the bread over and spread pizza sauce on the unbuttered side of each slice.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce on two of the slices.
- Top with the remaining bread slices, buttered side facing out.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and place the sandwiches in the pan.
- Cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side, flipping carefully, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from the skillet, let cool slightly, and slice before serving.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
- Reheat in a skillet over low heat for best texture.
- Microwaving is not recommended as it makes the sandwich soggy.
- Try adding vegetables like mushrooms or bell peppers for variety.
- Different cheeses like provolone or Italian blends work well too.
