Fun and festive pumpkin dirt cups made with creamy chocolate pudding, crushed cookies, and candy pumpkins to resemble a tiny pumpkin patch. This easy no-bake dessert is perfect for Halloween parties and fall gatherings.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 10 minutes
  • Yield: 12–18 cups

Ingredients

  • 1 package (3.9 oz) chocolate instant pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 8 oz whipped topping
  • 20 Oreo cookies, crushed
  • 1218 candy pumpkins
  • 1/2 cup shredded coconut
  • 46 drops green food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon water (for coloring coconut)

Instructions

  1. Place the Oreo cookies in a food processor and pulse until they form fine crumbs, or crush them in a sealed plastic bag using a rolling pin.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the chocolate pudding mix and cold milk for about 2 minutes until thickened.
  3. Let the pudding set for about 5 minutes according to package directions.
  4. Gently fold the whipped topping into the pudding mixture until smooth and fully combined.
  5. Add about 1 tablespoon of crushed cookies to the bottom of each clear serving cup.
  6. Spoon a layer of the pudding mixture over the cookie crumbs.
  7. Continue layering cookie crumbs and pudding until cups are nearly full, finishing with cookie crumbs on top.
  8. Refrigerate the cups for at least 1 hour to allow the dessert to set.
  9. Place shredded coconut in a small container with a lid, add green food coloring and water, and shake until evenly colored.
  10. Before serving, sprinkle the green coconut over the cookie layer to resemble grass.
  11. Top each cup with one or two candy pumpkins to create the pumpkin patch decoration.

Notes

  • Clear cups help show the layered dessert for a better visual effect.
  • Golden sandwich cookies can replace Oreos for a vanilla-flavored version.
  • Add gummy worms, candy corn, or chocolate candies for extra Halloween decorations.
  • Mix 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice into the pudding for a fall flavor twist.
  • The dessert can also be layered in a 9 × 13 inch dish instead of individual cups.
  • Add decorative toppings like coconut and candy pumpkins just before serving for the best presentation.
