Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a standard loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until combined.
- Add milk and melted butter. Stir just until a soft batter forms—do not overmix.
- Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cool slightly before slicing and serving warm.
Notes
- Add herbs or cheese for a savory twist.
- Stir in raisins or chocolate chips for a sweet variation.
- Use plant-based milk and oil for a dairy-free version.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days, or freeze slices for longer storage.
- Works well in a square pan if a loaf pan isn’t available.
