A comforting and hearty sausage gravy biscuit pie made with creamy halal sausage gravy and topped with fluffy golden biscuits, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dinner.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 pound halal breakfast sausage (beef or chicken)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (8 biscuits)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned, breaking it into small crumbles.
  3. Do not fully drain the fat; leave enough to coat the pan for flavor.
  4. Sprinkle the flour over the sausage and stir continuously for 1–2 minutes to cook out the raw taste.
  5. Gradually add the milk while stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
  6. Cook for 5–7 minutes until the mixture thickens into a creamy gravy.
  7. Season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir in butter if desired.
  8. Pour the gravy into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  9. Cut each biscuit into halves or quarters and arrange them evenly over the gravy.
  10. Bake for 20–25 minutes until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  11. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Add shredded cheese like cheddar or mozzarella for a cheesy variation.
  • Sautéed onions or bell peppers can be mixed into the sausage for extra flavor.
  • Add chili flakes or hot sauce for a spicy kick.
  • Homemade biscuit dough can be used instead of refrigerated biscuits.
  • For a lighter version, substitute part of the milk with low-fat milk.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat with a splash of milk to maintain creamy consistency.
  • Freezing is possible but may slightly change biscuit texture.
