Ingredients
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 lb fresh mussels, cleaned and debearded
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup chicken or seafood broth
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- Red pepper flakes, optional
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- Garlic bread, toasted (for serving)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
- Pour in the broth and simmer for 2–3 minutes.
- Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese, then season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
- Add mussels, cover the pan, and cook until they open (about 5–7 minutes). Discard any that don’t open.
- Stir in shrimp and cook until pink and opaque, about 3–4 minutes.
- Remove from heat, sprinkle with chopped parsley, and serve immediately with toasted garlic bread.
Notes
- Add a splash of white wine before the cream for extra depth.
- Finish with lemon juice for a brighter flavor.
- Swap parsley for fresh basil or thyme as desired.
- Use thawed frozen seafood if fresh isn’t available.
- Reheat gently to avoid overcooking the seafood.
