Soft bread slices rolled with fresh strawberries, dipped in a sweet egg mixture, and cooked until golden for a quick, fun twist on classic French toast.

  • Total Time: 16–18 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

4 slices bread

1 cup strawberries, sliced

2 eggs

1/4 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon melted butter

1 tablespoon sugar

Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Flatten each slice of bread with a rolling pin.
  2. Place strawberry slices along one end of each bread slice and roll tightly.
  3. In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and sugar until smooth.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add melted butter to coat.
  5. Dip each roll-up into the egg mixture, coating fully, then place in skillet.
  6. Cook until golden brown on all sides, turning gently for even color.
  7. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.

Notes

  • Swap strawberries for blueberries, raspberries, or sliced bananas.
  • Add Nutella or cream cheese for a dessert-style roll-up.
  • Brioche or challah bread adds a richer flavor.
  • Best served fresh but can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated in a skillet or oven.
  • Freeze cooked roll-ups for up to 1 month; reheat before serving.
