Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- Strawberry-flavored chocolate kisses, unwrapped
- Sprinkles or sanding sugar (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the egg, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking soda.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Roll the dough into 1-tablespoon-sized balls. Optionally, roll them in sprinkles or sanding sugar.
- Place dough balls on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 8–10 minutes, until set but still soft.
- Remove from the oven and immediately press a strawberry kiss into the center of each cookie.
- Cool cookies on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Chill the kisses before using to help them hold their shape.
- Add pink food coloring to the dough for a festive look.
- Roll dough balls in strawberry gelatin-sugar mix for extra flavor.
- Do not overbake—the cookies should remain soft.
- Store in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
