Ingredients
- 6 large eggs
- 4 cups water
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons hot sauce
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Optional garnishes: chopped green onions, sesame seeds, chili flakes
Instructions
- Bring water and salt to a rolling boil in a medium saucepan.
- Gently lower the eggs into the boiling water and cook for 9 to 12 minutes.
- Prepare an ice bath in a large bowl. Once the eggs are done, transfer them to the ice bath and let cool for 5 minutes.
- Peel the cooled eggs and set them aside.
- Melt the butter in a small bowl and mix in soy sauce, hot sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Toss the peeled eggs in the sauce mixture until evenly coated and glossy.
- Garnish with chopped green onions, sesame seeds, or chili flakes if desired. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Use an ice bath to make peeling eggs easier.
- Adjust hot sauce to control the spice level.
- Add honey for a sweet-spicy variation, or sesame oil for nutty flavor.
- Serve with rice, noodles, or on their own as a protein-rich snack.
