Ingredients
- 2 large onions, sliced into thin rings
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cornstarch
- Salt, to taste
- Optional seasonings: paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper
- Vegetable or canola oil, for frying
Instructions
- Separate the thin onion rings and pat them dry with paper towels to help the coating stick better.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, a pinch of salt, and any desired seasonings.
- Toss the onion rings in the flour mixture until well coated.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the coated onion rings in small batches for 2–3 minutes until crisp and golden.
- Transfer to a paper towel–lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce or seasoning.
Notes
- Air-fry at 375°F (190°C) for 8–10 minutes for a lighter version.
- Sweet or red onions add different flavor profiles.
- Use a wire rack for draining to keep chips crisp longer.
- Replace some flour with breadcrumbs for extra crunch.
