Ingredients
- For the dough:
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp active dry yeast
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp milk (for brushing)
- For the cream filling:
- 1 cup chilled whipping cream
- 3 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add butter and yeast mixture. Mix into a sticky dough.
- Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–2 hours until doubled.
- Punch down dough and divide into equal portions. Shape into balls and place on a lined baking tray.
- Cover and let rise again for 30–45 minutes until puffy.
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and brush buns with milk.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes until lightly golden. Cool completely.
- Whip cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
- Slice buns horizontally, fill with whipped cream, and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

- Ensure yeast is active and milk is warm, not hot.
- Use chilled cream for better whipping results.
- Do not overbake to keep buns soft and fluffy.
- Fill buns just before serving for best texture.
- Store unfilled buns at room temperature and filled buns in the refrigerator.
