Ingredients
- 1 lb brisket
- 1 cup bourbon
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 8 slices thick-cut bread or waffle equivalent
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
Instructions
- Season brisket with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
- Place in a slow cooker or deep pan and pour bourbon and maple syrup over it.
- Cook on low for 6–8 hours until tender.
- Shred brisket and return it to the cooking liquid for 10–15 minutes.
- Prepare waffles or lightly toast bread.
- Butter one side of each slice or waffle.
- Place one slice butter-side down in a skillet, add cheese, brisket, and more cheese.
- Top with another slice butter-side up.
- Cook until golden and crispy, then flip and cook until cheese melts.
- Serve hot.

- Use low heat when grilling to avoid burning.
- Leftover brisket works perfectly for this recipe.
- Adjust maple syrup for sweetness preference.
- Use different cheeses like gouda or mozzarella if desired.
