Ingredients

  • 1 can (20 oz) apple pie filling
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 2 cans refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • Nonstick cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Spread the apple pie filling evenly across the bottom of the baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg over the apples and stir gently.
  4. Open the cinnamon roll cans and set the icing packets aside.
  5. Cut each cinnamon roll into four pieces and arrange them evenly over the apple mixture.
  6. Drizzle melted butter over the cinnamon roll pieces.
  7. Pour caramel sauce evenly across the top.
  8. Sprinkle chopped pecans or walnuts over the caramel layer if desired.
  9. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the cinnamon rolls are golden brown and fully cooked.
  10. Allow the dessert to cool for 10 minutes.
  11. Warm the reserved icing packets slightly and drizzle over the top before serving.
