Flaky puff pastry filled with melted mozzarella cheese, baked until golden and crisp for a simple and satisfying snack or breakfast treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed (about 500 g total)
  • 200 g mozzarella cheese, sliced or shredded
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (390°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out puff pastry sheets lightly and cut into equal rectangles.
  3. Place mozzarella cheese on one side of each rectangle.
  4. Fold or roll pastry over the cheese and seal edges.
  5. Place pastries seam-side down on the tray.
  6. Whisk egg and milk, then brush over pastries.
  7. Sprinkle sesame seeds if desired.
  8. Bake for 15–20 minutes until golden and puffed.
  9. Brush with melted butter and cool slightly before serving.
