Ingredients
- 1 (16 oz) box hot roll mix
- 1 cup very hot water (120–130°F)
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the roll mix and yeast packet.
- Add hot water, softened butter, and egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Cover and let the dough rest for 5 minutes.
- Divide the dough into 12 equal portions.
- Pinch off a small piece from each portion to form a tail and roll it into a ball.
- Roll the remaining dough into a 10–12 inch rope, shape into a “U,” and twist ends to form bunny ears.
- Place the dough ball into the bottom loop to create the tail and press gently.
- Arrange shaped rolls on a parchment-lined baking sheet and cover loosely.
- Let rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes until doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove from oven and brush immediately with melted butter. Serve warm.
Notes
- Do not use boiling water to avoid killing the yeast.
- Lightly flour hands if dough is sticky.
- Ensure even rope thickness for better shaping.
- Brush with butter immediately after baking for softness.
- Let dough rise fully for best texture.
